As an entirely volunteer-based, non-profit organization, Ashe Humane Society has tremendous gratitude for our volunteers and ourpartners, who help us maximize our ability to serve our homeless dog and cat population in Ashe County.
Gardners in Crime
“Gardeners in Crime for a Cause with Paws" is a collection of avid gardeners in Watauga and Ashe counties who propagate and sell plants throughout the year and donate the proceeds to animal rescues. Their 2025 proceeds are going toward the low-cost spay/neuter programs of AHS to help the animals of Ashe County!
"Gardeners in Crime" (GIC) works as a "Producer" with High Country Food Hub in a regional network of 120 vendors from 8 counties and 3 states. Food Hub operates under the umbrella of the Boone nonprofit, “Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture.”

Ashe County Businesses
Businesses across Ashe County and in neighboring counties are quick to step in and support Ashe Humane Society. A key example was our very successful first annual Paws and Pints fundraising event at Boondocks Restaurant and Taproom in October 2025. We are grateful to the many generous businesses in Ashe County who donated items to our silent auction in support of AHS and the animals of our county.
Maddie's Fund
Ashe Humane Society is proud of its partnership with Maddie’s Fund™, a family foundation funded by PeopleSoft Founder Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl, to help create a no-kill nation. The mission of Maddie’s Fund™, which is part of The Duffield Foundation Family, is to revolutionize the status and well-being of companion animals. PARTNERS! Canines is a 501(c)3 non profit rescue based in Todd, NC, that helps rescue animals from euthanasia in small southern high-kill shelters. Go to partnerscanines.org for more information.
