Tammy bio photo.jpg

President

Tammy Tanoury

Tammy has worked in animal rescue for more than 30 years and channeled her passion into the formation of Friends of Ashe County Animal Shelter in 2024 before it merged with Ashe Humane Society. When Tammy isn't wrangling cats and dogs, she helps humans by performing CT imaging at a local hospital. Tammy and her husband Dahr share their home and lives with their diva dog, Hazel, their black cat, Maurice the Marvelous, and a rotating roster of foster cats and dogs waiting for their forever homes.

Treasurer

Janet Myers

An avid animal rescue advocate for over a decade, Janet has been involved with Ashe Humane Society in multiple capacities since 2018. When Janet isn't helping animals in Ashe, she enjoys watching her two grandbabies, gardening and renovating her 40-year-old home. She's a proud pet mom to Zoey, a mini–Australian Shepherd mix, and Annie, a lab and shepherd mix.

Beth 3_edited.jpg

Member at large

Beth Britt

Beth is a long-time animal lover and pet parent who returned to her Ashe County roots with her husband after they retired in 2024.  She began volunteering with Friends of Ashe Animal Shelter in 2025 and supported the merger of FAAS and Ashe Humane Society by managing publicity and redesigning the AHS website. They most recently adopted Missy, a toy American Shepherd, and Bob, a large, long-haired, orange cat who delights in terrorizing Missy. Beth looks forward to using her communications and consulting expertise to help AHS reach its goals.

Vice President

Heather Motsinger

Heather brought her fostering experience to AHS in 2022 and began volunteering by mucking out cat kennels and mopping. In addition to her VP responsibilities, she currently serves as AHS’s foster care coordinator, specializing in new feline moms, their kittens, and orphaned “bottle babies.” With a graduate degree in cognitive psychology from Wake Forest University, Heather works to apply this people knowledge to her animals. Sometimes it even works! Heather and her husband are proud kitty parents to 4 foster fails and 2 blind kittens.

Natasha Blue_edited.jpg

Secretary

Natasha Blue

Natasha believes that a strong community starts with how we care for our most vulnerable members. She joined the AHS family with a desire to pair decades of executive level leadership and expertise with a lifelong passion for animal welfare and advocacy. As an AHS volunteer, Natasha has supported the feral cat TNR program, staffed the AHS booth at the Ashe County farmers market and organized the inaugural "Paws & Pints" fundraiser. Natasha and her husband live on a small farm in Ashe County caring for 6 dogs, 2 barn cats, 2 goats, and 13 chickens – all rescues.
