Sarah Terry

Sarah has volunteered with AHS in successively larger roles for 14 years, beginning as a community volunteer to office manager to board member, then board Vice President and now President. When she's not supporting AHS, Sarah works as a proofreader for an advertising agency. She is also Mom to two amazing sons, two dogs (Annabelle & Holly) and four cats (Olivia, Crab Rangoon, Lizzie & Akela).

Jenny Johnson

A volunteer with Ashe Humane Society since 2022Jenny began by cleaning out cat cages, playing with the cats and kittens and helping them get adopted when AHS operated its own shelter. Today she helps with the Feral Cat TVNR Program and serves as AHS treasurer. ​Jenny completed 30 years with Ashe County Schools in 2021and immediately began working with the West Jefferson United Methodist Church preschool for three more years. Jenny and husband Greg have four dogs, Beau, Freddie Mae, Sam and Sadie) and two cats (Opal and Clyde).

Tammy Tanoury

Tammy has worked in animal rescue for more than 30 years and channeled her passion into the formation of Friends of Ashe County Animal Shelter in 2024 before it merged with Ashe Humane Society. When Tammy isn't wrangling cats and dogs, she helps humans by performing CT imaging at a local hospital. Tammy and her husband Dahr share their home and lives with their diva dog, Hazel, their black cat, Maurice the Marvelous, and a rotating roster of foster cats and dogs waiting for their forever homes.

Janet Myers

An avid animal rescue advocate for over a decade, Janet has been involved with Ashe Humane Society in multiple capacities since 2018. When Janet isn't helping animals in Ashe, she enjoys watching her two grandbabies, gardening and renovating her 40-year-old home. She's a proud pet mom to Zoey, a mini–Australian Shepherd mix, and Annie, a lab and shepherd mix. ​
