About Us...
On May 1, 2023 the Ashe Humane Society became a foster home-based rescue that intakes in-danger animals from Ashe County Animal Control only. We no longer have a building nor a shelter and do not take stray animals nor feral cats.
Our Spay/Neuter Financial Assistance Program and the Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return Feral Cat Financial Assistance Program started in August 2023!!
We sold our building in July 2023 in order to use the proceeds to better serve our community with these new programs and help all pets and community cats!!
Ashe Humane Society is proud to announce our new partnership with “Gardeners in Crime for a Cause with Paws.”

This group, a collection of avid gardeners in Watauga and Ashe Counties, propagate and sell plants throughout the year and donate all of the proceeds to animal rescues. We are thrilled to report that all proceeds this year will go to the low-cost spay/neuter programs of AHS to help the animals of Ashe County!
How it works: "Gardeners in Crime" (GIC) works as a "Producer" with High Country Food Hub, in a regional network of 120 vendors from 8 counties and 3 states! Food Hub operates under the umbrella of the Boone nonprofit “Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture.” Here’s how it works: You make your purchases online and pick up your plants locally. Each Wednesday, Food Hub delivers the orders of Ashe County residents to the Ashe County Library, with pick-up from 4-6pm.
Where to find plants: Don’t wait to check out this enormous online catalogue! GIC is bursting at the seams with seasonal seeds, bulbs and plants ready to go. Contact AHS if you are interested in growing plants to assist GIC.
Get started at highcountryfoodhub.org to browse the catalogue and learn more about this amazing organization! To see GIC plants, click on "Browse Products," then on "Producers," then on "Gardeners in Crime for a Cause with Paws."

We do not have a building nor shelter. We are a foster-based rescue that is entirely run out of private homes. (Read above on this page)
